After plans have been brought to light that the Liberal Democrats run Pendle Borough Council is not to increase its share of the council tax, Liberal Democrats Prospective MP for Pendle, Afzal Anwar is backing the plans being outlined by fellow Lib Dems. The Liberal Democrats are planning to not increase Pendle Council's share of the council tax for a second year, this is due to the economic hardship that people are facing.
Liberal Democrats Prospective MP, Afzal Anwar said:
"I ask the Conservatives and Labour to rubber stamp the Liberal Democrats ideas, clearly the party has the right vision for Pendle and the hardworking people who live in the area. People are having trouble paying their bills never mind Council tax; it's this view and concern that I have which is leading to me making this plea.
"I ask the Tories and Labour to consider the people in Pendle who this winter will find it difficult to pay their gas bills; many might have to go without gas heating as they can't afford to pay the bills. Please understand the difficulties these people are facing and back the Lib Dem plans."
