Saturday 30th August saw the launch of Pendle's Walking Festival 2008, a chance to enjoy some of Lancashire's beautiful countryside. It was attended by many and one of the prominent figures present was Afzal Anwar the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate. He not only attended the launch ceremony he also took part on Saturday 6th September by walking up Pendle's peak (Pendle Hill). He succeeded in reaching the top and said "I am overwhelmed by the turnout and I am pleased that I made it to the top. Not only does this festival keep you fit and healthy but it comes with the added bonus of enjoying the countryside." Afzal added "From the top of Pendle Hill the views are magnificent and truly worth the climb. It gives you a complete view of most if not all areas of Pendle."
