Pendle's Liberal Democrats met for their Annual General Meeting last Friday.
To the meeting's delight, Coun Tony Greaves announced that local party membership now exceeds 650 members.
The meeting went on to elect officials for 2007. The results were as follows:
President: Suzi Shafar
Chairman: Derek Mann
Vice Chairman, Political: Rashid Qadri
Vice Chairman, Campaigns: Darren Reynolds
Secretary: Saba Iftikhar
Treasurer: Nawaz Ahmed
Press Officer: Vacant Position
Fundraising Officer: Dorothy Lord
Membership Secretary: Tony Greaves
The meeting also elected six ordinary members to the party's Executive body: Malik Hafiz, Mary Thomas, Gulam Sarwar, David Dean, Abdullah Zaid, Saghir Ahmed, Sonia Robinson.
Local groups have also been asked to appoint two members each to represent Colne, Nelson, Brierfield, West Craven and Barrowford and Western Parishes.
The County Council group appointed David Whipp to represent them on the Executive.
The meeting elected thirteen federal conference representatives: Abdullah Zaid, Rashid Qadri, Frank Wren, Helen Greaves, Hafiz Malik, Derek Mann, Saba Iftikhar, Afzal Anyway, Saghir Ahmed, Mahboob Ahmed, Nawaz Ahmed, Darren Reynolds and David Foster.
The meeting also elected extra representatives to attend Regional Conference: Naseem Shabnam, Nadim Ahmed, Heather Greaves, Suzanne Mann and Suzi Shafar.
The meeting asked anyone interested in becoming a school governor to contact David Whipp.
The next meeting of the Pendle Liberal Democrat Party Executive will be on December 8th at 7pm, at the Liberal Democrat offices in Nelson town centre.
